“Eyes on Gaza” is an online lecture series that seeks to bring to the public current and accurate information about the genocide in Gaza, its broader contexts – historical, legal, sociological and more – and its connections to the ethnic cleansing and violence in the West Bank, as well as to structural inequality within Israel. The series was founded by three lecturers from the “Left Forum” at the University of Haifa, working from a sense of urgency and responsibility in the face of the chaos and helplessness created by the incessant wars.

“Eyes on Gaza” combines learning and protest, recognizing that turning away from atrocities serves to enable them, and with a belief in the power of a learning community to effect change. The Zoom series began in June 2025, during Israel’s first war with Iran. Forced into our shelter, despairing and helpless, we were also angry at the attempt to divert attention from the destruction that Israel was wreaking on Gaza. We decided to meet on Zoom, once a day for a week, to learn from an expert. A year later, the meetings are ongoing, twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays.

Our goal was and still is to learn about what happened and what continues to happen in Gaza, the West Bank, and Israel; to seek ways to resist; and to refuse to accept the crimes committed in our name. The recorded lectures constitute an “archive of the present,” revealing the immediate and distant contexts of the war of annihilation in Gaza and sketching the nature of the resistance to it.
